History of ‘ Eau De Cologne ‘

Eau de Cologne isn't just any old scent, it's a historical masterpiece that was whipped up in Cologne, Germany in the 18th century by a clever pharmacist named Johann Maria Farina. He mixed together a secret blend of essential oils from lime, lemon, and citrus trees to create a fragrance that could combat the stinky smells of city life. And thus, Eau de Cologne was born.

Afterwards, many other fragrance makers began producing similar types of fragrances, and the use of the term ‘eau de cologne‘ became more widespread.

Today, there are various type of ‘eau de cologne‘ available, although they may not follow the original formula and concentration. However, the light and citrusy fragrance still remains a distinctive characteristic of ‘eau de cologne‘.
